Before episode 1
Saturday is his wife's fiftieth birthday, and her grown daughter has taken charge of a surprise party: forty guests, at the house. The stepdad, three years into the marriage, is assigned to keep the birthday woman away when it counts. There's a twist on the guest list too. Aunt Sarah, the mother's stepsister, hasn't spoken to her in four years and has agreed to come. The daughter, who has an apartment of her own, is staying at the house for the week to plan.
The people in it
- The stepdad: Three years into his marriage, put on decoy duty, and failing to keep his eyes off his stepdaughter.
- The stepdaughter: The party planner, a grown woman with her own place, who signed up mostly to be near him.
- The wife: Turning fifty, kept in the dark about the party and, more importantly, about everything else.
- Aunt Sarah: The wife's stepsister, estranged for four years, quietly invited back for the big day.
The two free episodes
Episode 1Free, no account
Whispered orders open things: the stepdaughter tells him to play it cool, because her mother can't find out what they're up to. His narration supplies the facts: the birthday, Saturday, the daughter organizing, a marriage three years old, and a wife who has never asked him for a thing. The plan calls for a houseful of guests and him on distraction duty. Then the bombshell invite: Aunt Sarah, silent for four years, is coming. Mom, from elsewhere, wants to know why they're acting strange; it's a surprise, she's told, and she promises not to peek. His inner voice panics about his stepdaughter. She says she has seen him looking, notes her mother works until six tomorrow, and names the guest room.
Episode 2Free with a free account
Party prep continues, sort of. She shows him something she has picked out for Saturday and asks if it's too much; he admits it's a lot. Then she reveals a part of it that isn't meant for the guests. She confesses she hates parties and volunteered only so she could spend a week under his roof. She dares him to send her back to her own apartment. He doesn't. Then Mom calls out that she's home early and asks where they are. The final line promises the birthday woman a much bigger surprise in store than any party.
Where the free run stops. With the wife back ahead of schedule and the two planners caught mid-secret, the unlocked part of the story runs out. Can they hold it together until Saturday, and will Aunt Sarah's return stir up even more trouble in that house?
What kind of show it is
Domestic sneak-around drama with a party countdown built in. It's talk-forward and sly, more glances and invitations than action, and the stepdaughter clearly leads while the stepdad wrestles his conscience. The ticking clock, from her mother's work hours to Saturday's guests, keeps it tight.
