Before episode 1
Jake and Sophie are newly engaged and still giddy about it, so they head to her family's house, where Sophie can finally show the ring to her mother face to face. Her father is running late, as he usually is, which leaves Veronica Parker in charge of the welcome: polished, teasing and clearly briefed on how often her daughter has been out late with this man. An empty week stretches ahead. Jake wants to impress his future in-laws. Veronica wants to make an impression of her own.
The people in it
- Jake: Sophie's new fiancé, eager to win over her family and badly out of his depth with her mother.
- Sophie: Freshly engaged and giddy about it, she brings Jake home, then gets called away for work.
- Veronica Parker: Sophie's mother and hostess, who teases her daughter's fiancé and keeps finding reasons to need his help.
The two free episodes
Episode 1Free, no account
Up front, Jake's voiceover gives the game away: he and Sophie were engaged, then he met her mother, and he could not stop himself. At the house, the couple is still marveling at the engagement when Veronica sweeps in, apologizing for losing track of the hour, sizing Jake up and hinting she has heard stories. Dad is delayed again. Dinner brings a toast to the couple and their free week, plus a long anecdote about turning down a buyer. When Sophie heads to bed, Veronica insists she is wide awake and claims a dance with Jake. He freezes. She tells him to breathe, reminds him he is about to be family and promises she does not bite, at least not before day two.
Episode 2Free with a free account
The biting line replays, and Jake fumbles an apology and wishes Mrs. Parker good night. In bed, Sophie asks what is wrong; nothing, he insists. At dawn she slips out, whispering that she will be back soon. He goes looking for her and finds Veronica instead. Sophie, she explains, had to dash into town for work and returns this evening. Then a request: help her with a stretch. Jake hesitates. Nobody else is around, she points out, so he holds her steady while she praises his natural skill. She announces a shower and says he is welcome to join, which he laughs off. Moments later she calls his name and tells him to stop lingering and come in.
Where the free run stops. It ends with Jake at the edge of Veronica's shower and Sophie hours away in town. The question is as simple as it is awkward: does he step inside, or turn around before this week gets any longer?
What kind of show it is
Slow-burn in-law temptation, mostly conversation and loaded small talk, with physical contact rationed into one dance and one stretch. Veronica runs every scene with amused confidence while Jake stammers and apologizes. The tension comes from how ordinary the household feels, with Sophie always one errand away.
