Before episode 1
It is his first overnight shift on the front desk of a hotel where, he soon discovers, room service covers more than food. He is visibly jumpy. A colleague tells him to calm down, and then Sloane is called upstairs and he is left alone at the desk with orders to stay put. The phone rings almost immediately. A guest in room 808 wants the evening's special brought up, and the special is not on any menu.
The people in it
- The night manager: A nervous first-timer at the front desk, learning on the job what guests really order.
- Sloane: A calmer coworker who gets called upstairs and leaves the rookie in charge of the desk.
- The guest in 808: A confident woman who phones down for a special order and makes clear what it is.
The two free episodes
Episode 1Free, no account
Nobody warned the new hire, he admits, that bringing things up to rooms was part of the job, and at this hotel every door seems to want something. A coworker teases him for looking braced for disaster and reminds him it is only night one. Then Sloane gets summoned upstairs, and he is told not to leave the desk. Alone, he answers the phone. A guest asks for the night's special, delivered to room 808. He arrives with a plate and explains it is her dessert. She is delighted to meet a beginner, admits that hunger was never the reason she called, and the order, she reveals, is him.
Episode 2Free with a free account
The guest in 808 notices right away that the new night manager is enjoying his job more than he expected. She announces a change into comfier clothes and leaves the door open, so to speak: he can mull it over and follow if he likes. His inner voice is pure disbelief, part panic and part awe at how gorgeous she is. She beckons him closer, addressing him by his job title, and says she wants a taste. The episode closes as she decides that he, not the plate he carried up, is dessert.
Where the free run stops. Room 808 is where the free part leaves him, with the guest claiming her dessert and the front desk empty downstairs. Whether Sloane returns to an unattended lobby, and what the other rooms might order, is left open.
What kind of show it is
Very short and very direct, a hotel fantasy with almost no plot friction. The talk is minimal, mostly her lines and his stunned narration, and the heat arrives fast. She holds all the confidence; he is the wide-eyed rookie, which is the whole joke of the premise.
