Before episode 1
Talia Reid is up for the position of personal assistant to Mr. Vaughn, who runs a floor of more than a thousand employees from an office high above the street. The job pays better than almost anyone else's there and carries more responsibility, along with constant travel. Vaughn interviews with riddles and pointed personal questions. Talia arrives polished, quick and fluent in several languages, ready to prove she deserves the role, with no idea yet what his private life looks like or who else she will have to impress.
The people in it
- Talia Reid: A poised, quick-witted candidate who speaks several languages and badly wants the assistant job.
- Mr. Vaughn: A demanding boss with a taste for clever answers, constant travel and an unusually candid marriage.
- Viviana: Vaughn's wife of more than two decades, who sizes up the new assistant at first sight.
The two free episodes
Episode 1Free, no account
Her name is called, and Talia is shown in to meet Mr. Vaughn. She launches into a thank-you; he cuts it short and points her to a chair. His first question is a puzzle: why does time move faster up in his office than down at street level? Talia answers gravity. He approves, noting that most candidates say deadlines. She then shows off her languages, reeling off French, German, Japanese and more, partly in Latin. His next question is personal: is she single? Mostly, she says. He offers a tour, and she makes no secret of her relief. Out on the floor, he gestures at over a thousand staff and tells her his assistant will outearn and outrank nearly all of them, provided she proves she is worth it.

The next scene is a flight. Vaughn hopes flying doesn't make her anxious, mentioning that he covered almost five hundred thousand miles last year. Talia asks, drily, whether assistants get the miles or only the jet lag. Then he introduces Viviana, his wife of twenty-three years, adding the joke that they have not always been happy at the same moment. Viviana looks Talia over and remarks that a brunette makes a change, a comment that hints at some history. Talia excuses herself and asks for the bathroom. She is told to keep the door open, and asked whether she is shy. She answers that she is shy only if they are.
Where the free run stops. Free viewing ends at a bathroom door that Talia has been asked to leave open, and her answer suggests she will. What Vaughn and Viviana actually expect from a new assistant, and whether this job was ever only a job, stays unanswered.
What kind of show it is
Corporate seduction played cool and clipped. Dialogue does almost all the work: riddles, deadpan one-liners, a wife's appraising glance. The heat lives in subtext rather than on screen for now. What drives it is the power gap between a polished boss and an ambitious hire, plus a wife who inspects the newcomer like a second interviewer.
