Before episode 1

Basic training has only just begun, and the recruit at the center of things is already caught up in a scuffle. His commanding officer is Demont: frightening, gorgeous, and possibly well connected, since a colonel's arrival has the recruit wondering whether she is tied to the man by blood or by marriage. She runs her unit on discipline and personal punishments. He would rather stare at her than survive her, and he treats every penalty she hands out like an invitation.

She demands to know whether they think they can fool around in her unit, sends one of them running up the hill with the hope he skipped dinner, then informs the recruit that he now belongs to her. A colonel is announced, the name Demont comes up, and the recruit wonders how she and the colonel are related. Once the platoon is dismissed, he admits he should be nervous but cannot stop looking. She orders the grin off his face and summons him to her office to be punished, which he is frankly looking forward to.

Credit where due: he actually shows up, and she approves, since she hates hunting down cowards. Swamp mud has been tracked all over her office floor, so his punishment is scrubbing every print away on his hands and knees, properly. She is drenched, heading for a shower, and expects the job finished when she comes out. Then he realizes he can see her. His own advice is not to look, and he ignores it repeatedly, gloats at someone named Tate, and wonders whether she knows exactly what she is doing and treats every newcomer this way. She calls him in and tells him to quit faking the cleaning. Busted, he tries to stay cool, and she announces a surprise.

Where the free run stops. Her surprise is still under wraps when the episodes stop being free. He has been caught watching, she has clearly allowed it, and what kind of punishment she really has in mind is anyone's guess.

What kind of show it is

Boot camp played for winks. Demont barks, the recruit panics and swoons in voiceover, and the plot stays thin on purpose. The tension builds from rules, punishments and a view she seems to offer deliberately, with the heat still mostly in his head during the free part.
