Cleopatra and Caesar

5 episodes · 2 free · checked October 26, 2026 · on Candy by October 6

As Egypt's army gains ground, Rome's top general finds the enemy queen at his war table, offering a very different surrender.

Before episode 1

Caesar is at war and slipping. Cleopatra's forces push closer every day, he has sworn not to cede another inch, and he calls her the greatest enemy he has. He is also married, with Rome's honor riding on his discipline. So when the queen herself turns up and offers herself as the spoils, his resolve is the only defense left, while out in the field her soldiers keep advancing.

The people in it

  • Caesar: Rome's conquering general, married, outmatched in the field, and trying hard to stay disciplined.
  • Cleopatra: The Egyptian queen waging war on Rome, who prefers to finish her battles in person.

The two free episodes

Episode 1Free, no account

Duty first, at least in theory. Caesar watches Egypt push forward and vows his legions will surrender nothing more. He names Cleopatra as his worst enemy, and then there she is, piling flattering titles on him, calling him the lion of Rome and inviting him to picture the queen of Egypt conquered across his own war table. He swears by Jupiter that she must stop and reminds her he has a wife. She mocks the mighty conqueror for trembling. A soldier bursts in: Egyptian troops have overrun the eastern camp and are closing on the river. Caesar reminds himself that Rome needs him strong and orders her out on the spot.

Night, and the war is personal now: her army has struck his men, and Caesar confronts her about it. Cleopatra reads the anger on his face and claims his eyes are saying something else entirely. He calls the whole thing a mistake; she dares him to walk away. He warns that she is courting disaster, and she welcomes it. Kneeling, she flatters him as master of the world and says it is her turn to conquer him. This time he refuses outright, vowing not to be fooled twice. She stops him with news: she is pregnant with his heir, a fact she learned that very morning, hours before the attack and before he arrived.

Where the free run stops. Everything stops on the pregnancy reveal, with his camp freshly attacked and the mother of his heir standing before him as the enemy. Whether Caesar believes her, and what the news does to the war, remains unanswered.

What kind of show it is

Costume melodrama played completely straight, with grand declarations, oaths to Jupiter and battlefield bulletins arriving at the worst moments. Talk outweighs heat by a wide margin. The dynamic is a siege in miniature: she advances, he retreats, and every report from the front pulls him back to duty.
