Before episode 1
She writes for a newspaper, keeps her faith close and still confides in her mother about dreams that leave her ashamed. Mama's advice is simple: wickedness only lingers where it is welcomed, so refuse it a home. Tonight she is assigned to sit down with Manalo, a musician with a rock star's swagger who is staying at a hotel. The job is routine. He is not, and she walks in carrying exactly the kind of thoughts she has been praying to be rid of.
The people in it
- The journalist: A churchgoing newspaper writer, ashamed of her night thoughts and determined to keep her professional cool.
- Manalo: Rock star holding court at a hotel; used to admiring stares and intent on making her his.
- Her mother: Called Mama, a woman of firm faith who insists temptation leaves if you never invite it.
The two free episodes
Episode 1Free, no account
Confession comes first. She tells Mama that thoughts creep in while she sleeps, that she is ashamed, that something must be wrong with her. Her mother answers that evil has no room where no one lets it in, then asks about the day ahead. A hotel interview with Manalo tonight, the daughter explains, for the paper. Mama blesses her and reminds her that God has always walked with her. At the hotel, Manalo remarks that she is different from the others, who cannot stop staring. He tells her to relax while he gets dressed. When she falters, he asks if she is all right and urges her to give in to whatever she is feeling. She orders his hands off her and refuses to be touched.
Episode 2Free with a free account
Guilt has caught up with her. She begs forgiveness, admitting she let him touch her and wanted it while knowing it was wrong. Elsewhere, an impatient voice asks whether she plans to come out at all. Manalo appears, and a prickly exchange about what each of them is after ends with him saying plainly that he wants her as his girl. She refuses to climb into his car while it is full of company, so he orders the women out. Soon they arrive at his place. Someone there notices he has brought a new one. Manalo sends her off to prepare herself for him, calling her sweetheart.
Where the free run stops. It stops at Manalo's door, with her sent to make herself ready and her prayers losing the argument. How far will she let this go, and what will she say to Mama the next time she confesses?
What kind of show it is
Moody and sparse, closer to a confession-booth drama than a romp. Lines are short, faith and guilt carry most of the weight, and the heat lives in what she refuses as much as what she allows. Manalo plays it cocky and possessive while she swings between prayer and surrender.
