Before episode 1
Tyler is away until tomorrow and has asked his friend Jake to look after the house. Nobody told Jake that Tyler's mother would be home. She finds a stranger in her house, wants to know who he is, and sighs that her son never warns her about visitors. Then she lays down the law: her bedroom is off-limits. Jake agrees politely and spends the rest of his stay scolding himself for how attractive he finds Mrs. Massie.
The people in it
- Jake: Tyler's friend, minding the house for a day, polite to a fault and badly distracted.
- Margot Massie: Tyler's mother, cool and amused, whose single house rule turns out to have a loophole.
- Tyler: Away until tomorrow and forgetful as ever; he arranged the visit without telling his mother.
The two free episodes
Episode 1Free, no account
Jake apologizes first, guessing this must be Tyler's mother. She wants to know who he is and what he is doing in her house. He explains: Tyler asked him to look in on the place during his trip, back tomorrow, and he had no idea the house was occupied. She is not surprised. Her son, she says, is hopeless about announcing guests. She gives Jake one rule: stay out of her bedroom. He answers with a respectful yes ma'am, then admits in his head that his friend's mom is gorgeous. He knows those thoughts are off-limits. He has them anyway, at full volume.
Episode 2Free with a free account
The rule comes up again: she reminds Jake she told him to keep out of that room, and he answers with the same yes ma'am. His inner voice has not cooled down at all; if anything, it is louder. Out loud, he finally tells Mrs. Massie she is very attractive. She drops the formality and asks him to call her Margot. Then she restates the rule with a lawyer's precision. It covered her room. It said nothing about her coming into his. The tables, and the doors, have turned.
Where the free run stops. Margot has kept her own rule to the letter while stepping into his space, and on that loophole the free portion closes. What Jake does with his best friend's mother in his room, with Tyler due home tomorrow, is the open question.
What kind of show it is
A short, sly tease that runs on one rule and one loophole. Jake's inner monologue supplies most of the comedy, Margot supplies the control, and the dialogue stays spare. The heat comes from the friend's-mom setup and from her very deliberate reading of the fine print.
